The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
