The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and brightening morning, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
