The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars darken, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
