The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
