The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
