The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
