The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
