The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
