The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 near which is Paradise. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
