The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 for a great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
