The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
