The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
