The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
