The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a written book, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
