The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
