The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a great day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A book inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
