The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
