The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
