The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
