The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
