The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
