The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
