The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
