The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
