The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
