The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
