The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
