The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
