The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
