The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
