The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
