The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
