Al-Inshiqaaq
The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
