The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
