The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
