The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
