The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
