The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
