The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And by oath of the Promised Day. 2 And [by] the witness and what is witnessed, 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 witnessing what they were doing. 7 Against these they had no grudge except that they believed in Allah, the Most Mighty, the Most Praiseworthy, 8 Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things. 9 Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning. 10 As for the righteously striving believers, they will live in Paradise wherein streams flow. This is the greatest triumph. 11 VERILY, thy Sustainer's grip is exceedingly strong! 12 It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life). 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Has the story of the hordes 17 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? 18 And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 Inscribed in a tablet preserved. 22
