The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
