Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
