The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
