The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
