The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
