The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And no trifle. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
