The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
