The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And no trifle. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
