The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
