The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
