Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
